Top 5 Ways I grew my Social Media Presence

The most common question I get asked, via email or direct messages on social media,would have to be "How do you grow your Social Media?" This question gets asked to me, the same way I ask it to the gals I respect and follow along with. Here are the Top 5 ways I would suggest starting out.

1. Engage with your followers and other like-minded accounts

Think about it, social media is all about interaction. DON'T be a ghost follower. People want to feel like they know you. Become a voice not just another account trolling feeds. Sounds rude, but it happens more often than not.

I take about 30 minutes each night to interact on accounts I follow. Give a like and leave a comment. Become connected with their lives and in return, you will find they will do the same. Come hang with me on my page @_christinaboyce

2. Team up with Brands or Bloggers you want to grow with or grow in to.

When I really started to take blogging seriously I started engaging with bloggers who were growing alongside Me. We would share our struggles and our successes. We would motivate and also give critique to allow one another to reach our goals. Just as good as working with people on the same level, is working with people who have already paved the way. Reach out to the ones you admire and ask for tips, tricks and advice like I did with Jessica of @happilyhughes

3. Find a theme/niche,/overall look to your page and stick to it.

This has by far been the hardest for me to achieve. I have no rhyme or reason to what i post. My images don't fit a certain style or filtered look. I will say the accounts with visually cohesive layouts attract more followers. Instagram especially is all about the visuals. Check out Karissa of @alittlejandk to see what I am talking about.

4. Team up for Giveaways or Link Backs

Okay this one I need to clarify a bit. I call it "Link Backs" as a way to reference what is happening. When I link back I am tagging a page in my post, whether I am teaming up with a brand or a fellow blogger. Follow Fridays used to be huge on Instagram and recently I have noticed a massive decline in them. Now I find, mentioning an account you love as a single post link back is extremely beneficial in gaining new followers. The new trend is to do follow friday's in your stories instead of on your page. Any of these options allows people to find new accounts they may like to follow along with.

Giveaways are a great way to team up and share amazing brands you love to work with. This is a great way to help both the brand and yourself gain a new audience. Perfect example of this would be anytime I team up with Jenna from @cocoandkiwi we benefit by gaining like minded followers from it.

5. Find what your audience likes and stick with it.

People love consistency. If you get the most engagement off of posts with your kids, then common sense says to always post pics with your kids. If you are killing it on photos of your home decor then give the audience what they want, HOME DECOR PICS. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

When I started incorporating professional photos into my feed on Instagram I noticed a HUGE decline in engagement and I couldn't figure out why. Then it hit me, my followers love the nitty gritty real life photos I share. I tried to change what they wanted to see. A great example of this would be Amanda @amandahedgepethobx who shares colorful candid photos of her and her adorable life in the Outer Banks of NC.
